As a social worker, I plan to effect change around the
struggle of identity by helping individuals so that they can figure out
themselves. Helping them learn that developing one's identity isn't something that automatically happens. I will use social work
perspectives such as strength-based perspective and person-in-environment
perspective. I will use strength-based perspective to help them focus on their
positive hobbies, characteristics, and resources. It will be good for my clients
to utilize the resources around them so that they can have help with their
identity. I will use person-in-environment perspective to help my clients have a
better understanding of everything that is in their environment. I can show
them how the environment plays an important role in your identity. So that they can become satisfied with themselves and their identity.
That really sounds a good plan. It's good that you want to focus on helping those who don't really know themselves and help them find their identity and place in the world. I know that it is really important to help those with disabilities and sexual orientation to find their identity in the world because I believe they are the ones who suffer from it the most.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a really great plan. I think this will help a lot of people. Especially using strength-based perspectives. Helping people uplift themselves by hearing something positive about themselves. I want to build a wellness center for young mothers, expecting mothers and women. I want to focus on self love and empowering women and I think your plan would be great for doing that. I would love to connect with you and talk more about therapy.
ReplyDeleteVery good idea, I don't think we have much resources for African American to use to cope with identity. Sometime therapy deals with that, but to whag extent. Where the word identity is used frequently so that thw client know hey, you need to find yourself before you lose yourself. Know who you are and where you would like to be. It all starts from self awareness.
